Welcome to the future - SMPTE 2110
Part I.

SMPTE 2110 protocol is becoming the future of the broadcast industry, and for a good reason. It allows for a more efficient and flexible way to transport video, audio, and data over IP networks. This makes it possible to improve the quality of live streaming and reduce costs in the future thanks to the fact that the (video-audio) router will be standard equipment which is used widely in IT. It is not used widely currently, but we are sure this technology will be part of our lives soon and we need to start addressing the opportunity now to provide the best future-proof solution for our customers.

Our company is committed to the future, that is why we consider continuous learning and development. We are constantly investing in our employees and our test laboratory. Our colleague passed his first official Arista exams (L1 + M&E SPEC), but throughout the year we aimed for the L3 (Arista Cloud Engineer) license to provide the most professional service possible to our clients during the planning of the IP system.

We are working with SMPTE 2110 for the future solution of the broadcast in our test laboratory. There is no SDI, only IP and fibre with ARISTA-based networking solutions including @hi human interface broadcast control layer. We are super excited. 

Moreover, we also place great emphasis on network monitoring options. The implementation of this new technology comes with the need to monitor the overall infrastructure to ensure the health of the equipment and network traffic. In our test environment, we use Grass Valley and Arista products to test the SMPTE 2110 protocol, and we have found that monitoring is vital to understanding the performance of these systems.

That's why we have implemented Zabbix, Telegraf, InfluxDB, and Grafana to monitor our test environment. Zabbix is an open-source monitoring solution that can be used to monitor various aspects of the system, including the health of the equipment. Telegraf, InfluxDB, and Grafana are open-source stacks that can be used to collect, store, and visualize the data from Zabbix. In addition to these, the Phabrix QL analyzer is also part of our environment. It provides excellent support for determining the origin of possible anomalies both in the image and in the network.

Using these tools, we can troubleshoot issues quickly and proactively identify potential problems. This allows us to improve the system's performance and ensure that we are providing the best possible service to our customers.
