KBS, Seoul / South Korea

The Task

To deliver a state of the art 16 camera OB van, with double expansions to the other side of the world short time before the World Athletics Championships in Korea.

The Challenge

In 2011 Broadcast Solutions delivered a 16-camera HD OB truck to KBS (the largest TV station in South Korea), equipped with 25 workplaces. The production area includes a 4 M/E Sony MVS-8000 vision mixer and a 2.5 M/E Sony MVS-6000 vision mixer. All video signals are displayed on TV Logic Displays with Evertz Multiviewers. The signal distribution and conversion is realized via a Snell Cygnus 288 x 480 matrix and Lynx Technology Modular Equipment.

Audio and video control rooms are equipped with Genelec 5.1 monitoring; the core of the audio control room is a Studer Vista 9 with built-in audio switcher. Also integrated are a Riedel Artist 128 x 128 intercom system and the VSM control system. 16 cameras from Sony (HDC-1000, -1500 and -3300) were delivered with Fujinon lenses and Sachtler tripods.

The Solution

Using only 8 months for production and an Antonov for delivery, KBS got the vehicle in time, including a team of Broadcast Solutions engineers to oversee the initial productions.
